Xarel-Lo (chair-relll-oh)
Xarel-Lo is a high quality grape that is known for making strong personality wines both still and sparkling. It is one of the main varieties used in the production of Cava and provides the backbone of the blend. As a single varietal still wine it is very austere and acidic (similar to Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Albariño) with the ability to age. It was first documented in1785 and is believed to have originated in the Catalonia region of Spain where it still thrives and is rarely grown elsewhere. Its name comes from the Italian word ‘chiarello’ which means ‘claret’. Claret was a style of wine that was used for wines that were exported to England centuries ago.
Honor White has a beautiful bright color which reflects the location of the vines that are near the ocean in Mediterranean climate. It is a fresh, fruity and aromatic wine that is perfect for warm days, picnics, and all types of seafood. It pairs well with Spanish tapas, appetizers, seafood, fish, fried foods, salads, creamy dishes, casseroles, and poultry.
The winery was established in in 1970, and honor tradition by working with indigenous grape varieties to produce unique wines. This family owned winery prides itself on tradition, culture, and elegance.
