Montsant is a ruggedly beautiful wine region in Catalonia, northern Spain. It is named after the Montsant massif that dominates the landscape, translating to ‘holy mountain’. The region dates back thousands of years when vines were first introduced by the Romans, and is home to one of the most famous wine blends of Spain. The vines here benefit from intense sunshine during the day and cool temperatures at night, which help to develop complex aromas and preserve acidity. Montsant encompasses Priorat, a famous region that is home to one of the best full bodied red wines of the world. Montsant has started to earn a reputation of high quality exceptional value red wines.
The blend of Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah (known in Spain as Garnacha and Carineña respectively) create a full bodied well structured red wine that is intense and elegant. It pairs well with grilled meats and vegetables, lamb shawarma, gyros, and traditional Thanksgiving foods.
The winery was established in in 1970, and honor tradition by working with indigenous grape varieties to produce unique wines. This family owned winery prides itself on tradition, culture, and elegance.
