Montsant is a ruggedly beautiful wine region in Catalonia, northern Spain. It is named after the Montsant massif that dominates the landscape, translating to ‘holy mountain’. The region dates back thousands of years when vines were first introduced by the Romans, and is home to one of the most famous wine blends of Spain. The vines here benefit from intense sunshine during the day and cool temperatures at night, which help to develop complex aromas and preserve acidity. Montsant encompasses Priorat, a famous region that is home to one of the best full bodied red wines of the world.
